YUYU RAU
Mindful Movement, Creative Dance & Devising Theatre facilitator
Yuyu Rau earned her Master’s degree in Theatre for Community and Education from Mountview with distinction in 2024. During her two-year training, she developed a unique practice, combining holistic somatic approaches that bridge mind and body with her passion for fostering connection and creativity.
With over 20 years of professional experience in dance, devising theatre, and physical theatre, Yuyu specialises in creative and mindful movement sessions. She designs bespoke workshops tailored to the needs of diverse groups and communities, focusing on enhancing communication, fostering team spirit, building confidence and self-awareness, maintaining physical health, and unlocking inner creativity.
Yuyu believes true transformation begins from within and that profound change arises when we listen to our bodies and respond authentically to their needs. Her participant-centred sessions integrate mindfulness, movement exercises, and creative tasks, empowering individuals to reconnect with themselves and others.
She has collaborated with diverse communities and organisations, facilitating sessions and showcases, including partnerships with Creating Ground, EVR (End Violence and Racism), St. Mary Ward, Siobhan Davies Studios, Mountview, Peckham Harris Academy, New Earth Theatre, and Protein Dance, among others.

"Yuyu's session did such an amazing job of uplifting everyone and bringing everyone together."
Yuyu fosters a vibrant, nurturing, and inclusive environment in her workshops, offering a transformative experience for participants. Here are some words they’ve shared: empowering, liberating, safe, supportive, warm, open, joyful, creative, and reflective.
Hear what people say
"...I was completely present. I wasn’t worrying about my past or future while we were doing the exercises."
The Impact of the Workshop
"...the mind and body connections are really empowering. I felt able to connect to my body again. It relaxed any tension happening in my muscles, which I did not realise in my daily life."
"Notice the fact that I was not looking after myself enough. Always tried to do things for others and not for me.
Changes take time, be more intentional. Pause. Less rush."
"I think I am more open and relaxed, definitely more honest with myself. I don’t want to pretend. I want to feel, I want to feel things sincerely."
